Volunteer
Much of the good work of the library is accomplished through the time and effort generously donated by our volunteers. There are a myriad of ways volunteers’ special skills enhance the life and spirit of our library.
Volunteers carefully curate the books generously donated by individuals in the community, sorting and displaying them in the ongoing Book Sale in the Foyer and the biannual Rare & Vintage Book Sales. Proceeds from these donated books provide a significant portion of the Library’s operating budget, promote reading and book ownership, and effectively recycle valuable resources.
Volunteers help at the circulation desks – both in children and adults, shelving books in the collection and working on the new book displays.
Volunteers may facilitate a discussion group, lead a workshop, read to children, or assist with the Library’s collection of Art & Artifacts.
Volunteers manage the Mezzanine Gallery Art Committee, organizing six exhibitions of local artists each year. Meeting monthly, they schedule artists, publicize the shows, and celebrate the creative spirit in our community.
Volunteers serve on the Board of Trustees, the principal governing body of the Library. According to the bylaws, the business and affairs of the Corporation shall be managed and administered by the board of trustees elected from among the membership of the Corporation, with the exception of the member appointed by the Town of Woodstock.
