Summer Reading Program

Each year, a nationwide theme is chosen to promote reading over the summer months.

To help support and sustain children’s reading engagement during the summer break, the library runs a six-week Summer Reading Program. Children add stickers to their reading records, earning rewards at periodic check-ins at the library when goals have been met. We conclude the program with a live performance or other community event that highlights the current year’s theme.

As always, the program is free and all are welcome. Come by the children’s library in the spring to learn more, sign up, and pick up a reading-tracker sheet and stickers ahead of time to get started!

The 2026 theme for the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) is “Unearth a Story.”

June 27-August 8, 2026

Though the official program doesn’t begin until after school lets out, we are planning activities that involve planting as soon as it is warm enough in May. Can you guess what we will plant?

If you have a budding green thumb in your family – or any child who likes to play in the dirt – sign them up now for this fun project!
