The Norman Williams Public Library offers patrons several ways to access thousands of movies!

On the main level, we have hundreds of films on DVD in our collection – from hot new releases to in-depth documentaries – for you to check out. In the Children’s Room, we offer Disney classics, such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Mary Poppins, alongside other favorites.

In addition, you can sign into Kanopy with your library card and choose from thousands of movies for all ages – foreign films, classic cinema, independent films, and educational videos – to stream to your computer, smartphone, tablet, and smart TV, through dedicated apps or web browsers. NWPL covers Kanopy’s costs, allowing you to watch for free with no ads.

How does it work? Each patron receives a set number of credits or “tickets” toward movies each month when they sign up. Your tickets reset on the first day of the month; unused tickets don’t roll over to the next month. The number of tickets needed to view a film and the duration of the viewing period are indicated on the film’s details page. Kanopy offers a separate section specifically for children’s content, often with free access.

To increase accessibility, closed captions, subtitles, and transcripts for all films are available along with compatibility with screen readers.
