The Library is Cool…

The heat wave of last week has passed, but there are sure to be more this summer! The Norman Williams Public Library is an official cooling station when you need a respite.

The Vermont Department of Health writes that heat-related illnesses are a real danger in Vermont, even in our northern climate. It is essential to stay hydrated, avoid excessive exertion, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing when outdoors. Everyone should take steps to stay safe in hot weather, but some people are at higher risk than others.

The next time the temperature spikes, consider bringing an older neighbor, young children, or a relative with a chronic health condition with you on an outing to the library. Relax with a magazine in the Reading Room, play a game of chess on the Mezzanine, or build a marble run in the Children’s Room. Take a minute to wander the stacks, explore the displays, or view the exhibition in the Mezzanine Gallery.
