Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, is observed annually on November 11th. It is a holiday honoring the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces.
The November date is important because in 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, major hostilities of World War I formally ended when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.
