Peter Lindenfeld & A Century in the Making | Tom Lindenfeld

Saturday, July 18
2:00PM
- 3:30PM
Peter Lindenfeld & image of him as a boy

Peter Lindenfeld lived a remarkable life and died in November 2025, but not before finishing and publishing his memoir, A Century in the Making: A Hundred-Year Journey from Refugee to American.

Born in Vienna on March 10, 1925, and shaped by the upheaval of the 1938 annexation of Austria, Peter Lindenfeld’s life carried him from refugee to professor emeritus of physics at Rutgers University.

Peter’s son, Tom, will present stories about his father and how his experience as a refugee affected his life. He will include brief readings from his memoir and a slideshow of images.

Rooted in Jewish tradition yet open to a wide philosophical world, Peter built a life woven from family, teaching, social justice, and community — from Princeton, NJ civic life and environmental causes to summers in Barnard, Vermont, and a deep engagement with global art, music, and culture.

Co-hosted by Artistree (Pomfret, VT) and the Yankee Bookshop (Woodstock, VT), copies of A Century in the Making will be available for sale at the event. For more information about the book see PeterLindenfeld.com.
