Website Accessibility Widget

Accessiblity widget imageYou may have noticed a new feature on this website: a small circle with a figure pops up on the lower right-hand corner of your screen. We added this accessibility widget to improve digital inclusivity for people who are visually challenged and those with various processing hurdles.

  • The site now has a built-in screen reader! The voice is somewhat robotic, but reads the important text information aloud.
  • You can adjust the size of the type and the spaces between the lines in a paragraph as well as the letters within a word.
  • Two options of dyslexia friendly font are available; one weighted and one without serifs.
  • There is a function to highlight all of the links to make them easier to locate.
  • You can create a visual mask to shade out all but a few lines, or a dark line to help guide your eye.
  • When Tooltips is enabled, you can see the alternative text that describes an image, and if the screen reader is enabled, you can hear what it is!
  • Or you can hide the pictures altogether.
  • Turn on the dictionary, then highlight a word and get the definition right on your screen.

Click on the icon to explore all of the new options to change and personalize how the website looks and functions for you.
