Literary Pairs – Book Discussion Group

November 2, 2022 @ 1:00 pm2:30 pm

Free

Intrigued by how books relate to each other? Norman Williams Public Library invites you to join us for talk & treats!

Librarians Kathy Beaird and Lori Mitchell have teamed up to host “Literary Pairs,” a discussion of books that complement each other. Because there are two books to read for each meeting, this group will meet quarterly on the 1st Wednesday at 1 pm. Dessert will be provided!

We will discuss Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O’Farrell and Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, at our February meeting hybrid – in person and online.

If the subject piques your curiosity and it fits your schedule, please join us. Everyone is welcome!

The theme for the third discussion was “False Realities.” The books to be discussed are The Turn of the Screw by Henry James and The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith.

“In the Blink of an Eye” was the theme for August 3rd. The books are Exit West by Moshin Hamid and Waiting for Snow in Havana by Carlos Eire.

The theme for the first discussion was “Offbeat Narrators To Boggle Your Mind” and the first titles are 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World by Elif Shafak and Nutshell by Ian McEwan.

***

Kathy has been in the book business (paid or unpaid) all her adult life and loved every minute of it. Lori has been matching readers and books for many years and has been happily ensconced at NWPL for the last six.

We offer a hybrid format – join us in person at the library OR log in via zoom. Please email programs@normanwilliams.org with questions or to register for the online link.
