If you thought April in Paris is a special time, wait until you see April in Woodstock.

April may be the “cruelest month” in northern New England because spring teases without quite arriving, but Woodstock, Vermont is a perfect destination for cultural and educational travel in April this year.

Art exhibits and classes, musical and theatrical performances, literary readings and discussion groups, and lectures and classes on diverse topics will be offered in numerous venues in this quaint but vibrant village throughout the month.

In Woodstock, there really isn’t an “off” season: Even without skiing or summer activities, this is a cool place to visit or to live. Cultural organizations include ArtisTree community arts center, Pentangle Arts Council, Norman Williams Public Library, Vermont Institute of Natural Science, The Learning Lab, Woodstock History Center, Billings Farm and BarnArts, and all will hold programs during April, 2016.

In addition, the town’s art galleries and its renowned summer literary festival, Bookstock, will hold special events to further spice up the month.

April will begin with the annual “Maple Madness” festival (organized by the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce) and close with a rousing community theater production of “Cats” at Town Hall Theater. In between, every weekend and many weekdays will feature events for all ages and a range of interests, from classical to Cajun music, from puppetry to gardening.

The complete program, and links to all venues, can be found at www.aprilinwoodstock.org.

April in Woodstock will be fun and educational for everyone—and a whole lot closer than Paris.
