Due to ever-increasing concerns about the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our community members, we are postponing the Norman Williams Public Library’s Ex Libris Gala scheduled for the end of April. We are very committed to prioritizing and protecting the well-being of our community. In the rapidly evolving public health situation, where much is still unknown about the coronavirus, we do not feel that it is an acceptable risk to hold the 2020 Gala as planned.
We don’t know what the situation will be like any time this spring. We are working with the Woodstock Inn and our speaker about possibilities for rescheduling and, when we have a plan, we will let our community know the details. In addition to being an important community event, the gala is a vital fundraiser that we count on for about 10% of the library’s operating budget. We welcome the community’s suggestions for how we might make up this shortfall in funding.
The NWPL staff and trustees continue to adjust the services that we are able to offer during this difficult time. We will keep our community up to date through our website, our regular email newsletters, and the Woodstock Listserv. We thank each of our community members for all that they do to make our library such a vibrant place and look forward to seeing you back at the library in the near future.
