Zack’s Place Enrichment Center provides a setting Monday through Friday for pre and post graduates with special needs to explore culture, art, education, business and fitness while developing bonds of friendship. Our approach engages participants with the material, their instructors, and one another. Through these programs ZP Participants contribute and benefit from the community.
Today our participant enrollment is at an all-time high of 100, varying in ages ranging from 7 to 60 years old. Zack’s place participants have a diverse range of special needs resulting from physical, cognitive, and developmental challenges such as cerebral palsy, Autism, and Down syndrome. Our constituents come from Woodstock and all over the Upper Valley and routinely travel from distances of up to 40 miles.
In addition to serving special needs individuals, we serve as a learning center for mainstream students, administrators, teachers, and community members. Our community volunteers join us as instructors or volunteers and as partners in special events. Some of our programs see senior citizens or high school students joining in the dancing, singing or exercises classes. These are all community members who might never know or be touched by the abilities and talents of our ZP population. Zack’s place is blessed to now have over 400 volunteers that serve in one capacity or another over the course of each year.
Zack’s Place is proud to partner with Norman Williams Public Library to share art work produced by our participants. They have worked over the year with various art teachers. Please enjoy the show.
Thank you to all the folks at Norman Williams Library for the opportunity to collaborate.
