There are four book discussion groups at Norman Williams Public Library and they all welcome
new participants.
There’s no assigned reading for What’s On Your Nightstand! Join us monthly on the second
Tuesday at 10:30 am to talk about whatever is on your reading list and learn what others are
reading. Fiction, mystery, biography, history – something for everyone.
The Green Books Discussion Group focuses on books about the environment and sustainability.
Titles range from recycling guides to thoughtful studies and participants come from all walks of
life. This group meets on the third Thursday at 3:30 pm and the next book is Dirt to Soil: One
Family’s Journey Into Regenerative Agriculture by Gabe Brown.
Read Between the Lines is for those who enjoy fiction, both contemporary and historic.
Discussion ranges from experimental writing to classic plot lines; character development to the
writing craft. This group meets on the fourth Tuesday at 6 pm. The Lincoln Highway by Amor
Towles is the pick for October.
Intrigued by how books relate to each other? With two books to read for each gathering, the
Literary Pairs Discussion Group meets quarterly on the first Wednesday at 1 pm. The theme for
November’s meeting is “False Realities” and we’ll be talking about The Turn of the Screw by
Henry James and The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith.
Hope you will join us – in person or via Zoom! Email programs@normanwilliams.org for more
information.
(Appeared in the Vermont Standard 10/6/22.)
