This is NOT the usual book club. We chat about books you are reading, the books you’ve loved, and the books you’ve always wanted to read. Along with great book recommendations, our discussions have ranged from the design and appeal of book jackets, the ebook revolution, which books we reread and why, modern writers, the craft of writing, and the elements of great writing. We all come away energized and eager for more. Do drop in.

The depiction of the paranormal can be portrayed for straight chills (“The Other,” and “The Haunting”), romantic drama (“The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”), and lively comedy (“Blithe Spirit”). Our host and film afficionado, Rick Winston, will sample a wide variety of such films, both from Hollywood and other countries including, Japan (“Spirited Away” and “Kwaidan”), Spain (“The Orphanage”), England (“Dead of Night”) and Mexico (“The Devil’s Backbone”). This is a great opportunity to watch unusual “ghost” stories with a knowledgeable and fun guide! What a way to get ready for Halloween!
