Founded by local musicians Fred Haas and Sabrina Brown, Interplay Jazz & Arts has been inspiring musicians of all ages from around the world for nearly three decades. In March, their monthly Jam Session will be held at Norman Williams Public Library. This is a special “Library After Hours” event on the Mezzanine with its great acoustics and baby grand piano. These jam sessions are social gatherings and communal practice sessions that are free and open to everyone to participate – or just listen and enjoy.
Beginning at 6:30 PM, instrumentalists participate in a free-flow session to develop new material (music) and play together. The instrumental jam may be based upon existing songs or forms, may be inspired by a participant’s suggestion, or may be wholly improvisational.
Continuing at 7:30 PM, vocalists are encouraged to bring well-known jazz standards, popular songs, or an original tune in their key to play with the instrumentalists, creating arrangements and improvisation in real time!
You are invited to bring an offering of food or drink to share if you’d like.
NOTE: The February session was canceled so we are trying again in March!
