Dear NWPL Patrons and Community Members,
In response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19, the non-profit organization GivingTuesday is hosting #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity, set to take place today. Please Support Your Library on #GivingTuesday – TODAY, May 5th
We are pleased that NWPL has qualified for Matching Funds for today’s event. We hope you’ll please consider making a donation today.
If you wish to make a contribution, to be matched, please follow this link to the secure GivingTuesday site: https://now.firespring.com/nonprofits/norman-williams-public-library or, for more information about the library, visit https://normanwilliams.org
We believe that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community.
The Norman Williams Public Library, while open to all, is not a not a fully funded municipal library. This is the reason we reach out to our community members for financial support. Each year, two-thirds of the library’s operating budget must be raised through our Annual Appeal letters, our Gala, and other special programs.
The Board of Trustees of The Norman Williams Public Library made the decision early this year to indefinitely postpone this year’s Ex Libris Gala due to the threats posed to attendees through COVID-19. The Gala is our largest fundraising event of the year and accounts for about 10% of the library’s operating budget. Your support today will help your library to fill that funding gap and continue to be able to provide vital services to our community.
Your donation today goes even farther thanks to Giving Tuesday’s generous leadership supporters who are providing matching donations to NWPL.
Although the library building is closed for now, we are hard at work creating and finding resources for our patrons to use from home – and keeping those resources and links up to date. We have a few things in the works that we hope to unveil soon, some virtual and also a phased plan for physical checkout and return of materials at the library.
Your support is invaluable to NWPL. Thank you. You enable us to provide the materials and programming that our patrons request and to create a positive sentiment that encourages future visits. It allows us to create memories for our children just embarking on a literary life, rekindles nostalgia for those looking to lose themselves in a great novel, and provides a vital source for education in all its forms.
We thank you for placing value in our efforts and hope that we continue to operate in a way that maintains such a wonderful relationship in the future. Thank you for your generous gift and for your continued support of our library.
With sincere appreciation,
Michael A. Ricci
