NWPL Executive Director announces her retirement

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement as Executive Director of the Norman Williams Public Library, effective December 31, 2015. I sincerely love my work at the library and am very proud of our accomplishments.

I deeply appreciate the opportunity afforded me by the Trustees and the greater Woodstock community to lead the Library for the past four years; however, I have upcoming family obligations that will require my undivided attention. While I am leaving the library, I am not leaving Woodstock, which will continue to be my home for the foreseeable future.

Since January 2012, I have dedicated myself to turning the Library into the highly regarded community-centered organization that it has become. Earlier this year, I initiated a strategic plan and together with 50 community leaders defined a plan to create a state-of-the-art library.  None of this would have been possible without the significant financial contributions made by generous donors as well as the outstanding staff and dedicated volunteers who selflessly gave countless hours to ensure the achievement of the new directions the library has pursued.

I am also deeply appreciative to the generous benefactors who contributed to the stately appearance of our historic building on the Village Green with elegant Frederick Law Olmsted lampposts, substantial benches, honey locust trees and our new sign, proudly proclaiming: Norman Williams Public Library Established 1883.

Your continued financial support and the library’s sound fiscal stewardship will enable the library to continue to meet 21st Century challenges.  I am pleased that I will be able to witness that creative process. Thank you for making my work here so fulfilling.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Belton
