NWPL Staff Training

Do you ever wonder what goes on behind closed doors at staff meetings and training sessions?

With many part-time librarians at the Norman Williams Public Library, schedules rarely overlap so we use our monthly meetings to make sure we are all on the same page with planning and projects. An hour once every few weeks is occasionally not enough for an organization such as NWPL with 10 staff members and lots going on.

Next Wednesday, July 10, the library will take a half day – we’ll open at 1 pm – to give us a full four hours to review our safety policy and procedures, discuss changes in Vermont state law that affect libraries, and get updates on technology issues.

In addition, these meetings offer an opportunity to acknowledge achievements and make plans for the future. We’re nearing completion of our Sustainable Libraries Certification and making progress on shifting the collection to allow for better display of books. Exciting projects in the works include building our “Library of Things” and a full roster of programs, both solo and in collaboration with other organizations in the community including the senior center and the schools.

We appreciate your understanding about our adjusted hours to allow the team to learn about new policies and share information while applauding and encouraging each other.
