SUMMARY:Author Event: Gesine Bullock-Prado | My Harvest Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation with Gesine Bullock-Prado about her new cookbook\, My Harvest Kitchen: 100+ Recipes to Savor the Seasons. She will be speaking with Mary Anna King about gardening\, cooking\, writing\, teaching\, and more. \nOur co-hosts\, Yankee Bookshop will have early copies of the book for purchase and signing. This event is free & open to all; space is limited: first come\, first seated. \nIn this new cookbook\, Gesine Bullock-Prado invites her fans into her kitchen\, where the harvest is local. Whether she’s picked the lettuce from her own garden\, visited a farmers’ market\, or shopped at the local grocery store\, her seasonal cooking is accessible to all readers. Delicious recipes share the page with fan-favorite family stories and tips on growing food\, understanding the soil\, and more\, for aspirational (and actual) gardeners. \nBullock-Prado once dreamed of homesteading—living off the land\, cooking pies with scavenged berries\, keeping bees and savoring the honey\, and foraging all things wild—but was not wholly successful. Her hybrid approach is on display here\, and she encourages readers to be realistic and celebrate fresh ingredients wherever they were grown. From Zucchini Waffles to Pickled Peaches\, Green Mountain Carbonara to Key Lime Ice Cream Pie\, Peony Jelly to Preserved Lemons\, these are dishes to make time and again. \n+++ \nGesine Bullock-Prado is a renowned pastry chef\, cookbook author\, baking instructor and television personality. She is the author of six well-received baking books and a baking memoir. Her confections have been featured in publications from Better Homes and Gardens to People Magazine\, and she’s a regular food presenter on the Today Show. She is the owner and baking instructor at Sugar Glider Kitchen in Hartford\, VT. \nMary King is a writer and former restaurant manager living in Quechee\, Vermont. Mary spent more than a decade working in some of the most celebrated restaurants in the country. Her writing has appeared in The Rumpus and The Toast; her restaurant expertise has been featured in the Huffington Post\, Modern Restaurant Management\, and the Food Institute. She is currently the senior restaurant writer for FitSmallBusiness.com.

SUMMARY:Author Event: Courtney Floyd | Higher Magic
DESCRIPTION:Join the Yankee Bookshop and NWPL to celebrate the launch of Higher Magic by local author Courtney Floyd! \nIn this incisive\, irreverent\, and whimsical cozy dark academia novel\, a struggling mage student with intense anxiety must prove that classic literature contained magic—and learn to wield her own stories to change her institution for the better. \nFirst-generation graduate student Dorothe Bartleby has one last chance to pass the Magic program’s qualifying exam after freezing with anxiety during her first attempt. If she fails to demonstrate that magic in classic literature changed the world\, she’ll be kicked out of the university. And now her advisor insists she reframe her entire dissertation using Digimancy. While mages have found a way to combine computers and magic\, Bartleby’s fated to never make it work. \nThis time is no exception. Her revised working goes horribly wrong\, creating a talking skull named Anne that narrates Bartleby’s inner thoughts—even the most embarrassing ones—like she’s a heroine in a Jane Austen novel. Out of her depth\, she recruits James\, an unfairly attractive mage candidate\, to help her stop Anne’s glitches in time for her exam. \nInstead\, Anne leads them to a shocking and dangerous discovery: Magic students who seek disability accommodations are disappearing—quite literally. When the administration fails to act\, Bartleby must learn to trust her own knowledge and skills. Otherwise\, she risks losing both the missing students and her future as a mage\, permanently. \n+++ \nCourtney Floyd is a neurodivergent fantasy author who grew up in New Mexico\, where she learned to write between tarantula turf wars and apocalyptic dust storms. She currently lives at the bottom of a haunted mountain in the woods of Vermont with her partner and pets. Higher Magic is her debut novel. \nCourtney has a PhD in British Literature and a penchant for irreverent literary allusions. Her short stories have appeared in publications including Fireside Magazine\, Small Wonders\, and Haven Spec\, and her audio drama\, The Way We Haunt Now\, is available wherever you get your podcasts. \n+++ \nThis event is free and open to all! The Yankee Bookshop is co-host and will be on hand with books for purchase and autographing.

SUMMARY:Understanding AI with Brian Dellinger
DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere these days. It’s dominating headlines\, embedded in our devices\, and rapidly transforming how we work\, communicate\, and interact with technology. \nBrian Dellinger\, Associate Director of IT\, Dartmouth College\, Geisel School of Medicine\, aims to demystify AI for non-technical users. Through examples and analogies\, he will help us build a basic understanding of what modern AI is about and how it is used to do seemingly intelligent things. Then\, drawing on that knowledge\, we will take a closer look at the strengths and weaknesses of current tools and discuss what the future may hold. \nFree and all are welcome.

SUMMARY:Bingo Night! | Library After Hours
DESCRIPTION:Our September “Library After Hours” is a “fun-raiser” that is also a mini-fundraiser: BINGO NIGHT! We’ll play a variety of traditional games: straight line\, picture frame\, blackout\, and more. \nEach slide-shutter bingo card costs $5 to use\, and you can play as many as you wish – whatever you think you can keep track of! You will reset your cards to play the next round. Cash prizes will be awarded for each game\, plus exciting extras. \nThis event is BYOB\, so feel free to bring your own drinks (including beer and wine); the library will supply snacks. \nDoors open at 6:30\, and the first round will start promptly at 7:00.
