Gifts Arrive Early at NWPL!

In the spirit of the holiday season, Norman Williams Public Library has a very special gift for book lovers in the greater Woodstock area.

Starting December 1st  — and continuing all month — residents of Barnard, Bridgewater, Pomfret, Killington and Reading (the WCSU School district) can obtain FREE, one-year memberships to this great Vermont library from December 2015 to December 2016. We know that, for many people, having a library card is like opening a door, providing freedom to explore, imagine and discover new things. By extending this privilege to our neighbors, we want to foster one of our area’s greatest traditions—the sense of belonging to a community.NWPLinWinter

This is a wonderful opportunity to explore all the resources available at NWPL, including an extensive print collection, plenty of audio books, music CDs and a wide variety of DVDs. Area families who already love the beautiful children’s room and collection will now be able to take home their favorite books for hours of cozy winter reading. Libraries play a vital role in child development, and it has been well documented that children who are read to regularly at home and who use the library often, perform better academically and are more likely to become life-long readers. Plus it is just great fun to snuggle up on a snowy day and read a good story!

To take advantage of this gift, just come into the library and our staff will be happy to sign you up. We know that so many area residents use and enjoy our library and this is our small way to give back to them and encourage their love of books and reading.

The ancient philosopher Cicero once said that ‘If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” We can’t give you a garden in Vermont in December but we can give you a library!
