Letter to the Vermont Standard

Norman Williams Public Library Thanks Generous Sponsors of 2015 Gala

On behalf of the trustees, corporators, staff, and volunteers of the Norman Williams Public Library, I would like to thank the sponsors of last Sunday night’s 2015 Ex Libris Gala for the generous contributions that made the event the most successful in our 14 year gala history! The names of these wonderful contributors appear in an ad elsewhere in today’s Standard as we didn’t have space for all in this letter to the editor.

The gala is our most vital fundraiser of the year. Gala sponsorship supports our operating funds, which are used to buy books, sustain the library infrastructure and provide many community services. More than sixty percent of the library’s finances comes from businesses and individuals in our community, and this support is crucial to the viability of this important community asset. The generosity of our sponsors makes it possible for the library to stimulate reading, broaden intellectual pursuits and inspire creativity.

The evening’s speaker, nationally syndicated and New Yorker cartoonist Harry Bliss, gave a thoroughly engaging presentation about the art of cartooning that was as humorous as it was stimulating. Mr. Bliss also spoke fervently of the importance of libraries. The Woodstock Inn ballroom was filled to capacity and radiated with high energy and community support for the library, a true Woodstock treasure.

Thank you sponsors of the 2015 Norman Williams Public Library Gala for your generosity and continued commitment.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Belton
Executive Director
