Classics Book Discussion Group: Edith Wharton’s Summer

April 29 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Free

Edith Wharton’s Summer created a sensation when first published in 1917, as it was one of the first novels to deal honestly with a young woman’s sexual awakening. Not as well-known as The Age of Innocence, or The House of Mirth, some critics have called Summer Wharton’s best and her most modern novel. The story is one of only two novels to be set in New England by Wharton, who was best known for her portrayals of upper-class New York society. Discussion is facilitated by John Matthews.
